Our dear friend and colleague, Sam Sommers died unexpectedly at the age of 49. His wife and two daughters not only have to process this devastating loss; they also now have to find a way to pick up the financial pieces to keep going without Sam.
Sam was a renowned social psychologist who devoted his work and life to studying and addressing the pernicious effects of racism in the law and society. He conducted research on these topics, taught and mentored thousands of students over the course of his career, and even used his knowledge to help keep other people alive—he was an expert witness in death penalty cases.
Sam wasn’t just an acclaimed scholar. He was a family man who adored, “The Sommers Ladies”. Their love and support made his achievements possible. Now that he’s gone, we want to make sure that his wonderful family has the support they need as they find their footing in this new world without their beloved father and husband.
Any support you can contribute to help ease this transition for them will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for considering.
