Supporting Safath and Amairah

Donation protected
This fund has been set up on behalf of Sabrina's husband, Safath, and his daughter, Amairah, by a group of their close friends who are managing the initiative.

On January 3, 2024, baby Arish was delivered via emergency c-section and was unfortunately stillborn, and subsequently on January 4, devastatingly, our beloved Sabrina Anam unexpectedly passed away, leaving behind her loving two-year-old daughter, Amairah, and husband, Safath.

Unfortunately, Sabrina passed away from multiple organ failure after her body underwent septic shock from contracting a Group A streptococcus (GAS) bacterial infection. At 39 weeks pregnant, Sabrina was admitted to Lakeridge Ajax Hospital on January 2 evening after complaints of pelvic pain. She was being monitored by the health care team. However, early morning January 3 at approximately 3am, Sabrina was taken in for an emergency c-section, when the fetal heartbeat was no longer detected. Baby Arish was delivered by c-section and was born stillborn. A hysterectomy was subsequently performed, once it was discovered there was an infection there, in hopes of containing it. However, it was too late, and the infection had already spread to the other organs. Sabrina was subsequently put on life support fighting for her life. She fought longer than doctors had predicted and tragically her heart gave out on January 4 at 4:36 pm.

Baby Arish was buried on January 4, and Sabrina was buried on January 5 at Duffin Meadows Cemetery.

***

Sabrina was only 34 years old and was just in the early stages of her motherhood journey with her husband. They were building a life here and putting down roots for their small and growing family. Sabrina's younger brother had also just recently joined them at the house from Bangladesh about a year back so that he could be closer to his sister and be part of this growing family. Both Sabrina's parents and in-laws who reside in Bangladesh, had been looking forward to visiting the happy family after the birth.

Sabrina had the most contagious laugh, was never too busy to check in on friends and family, and always went out of her way to make people feel special and seen. In every anecdote and story, everyone will say the same thing - Sabrina left a warm loving feeling behind in their hearts, with every interaction she had with people. Sabrina was a resilient, strong, kind, silly, and empathetic woman. She was somebody you could always rely on to say yes to plans (and mean it).

Her generosity and community spirit led her to be active in serving her Bangladeshi community as she volunteered at BCCB and led quite a few citizenship initiatives as well. Additionally, she was a strong advocate for equity and the empowerment of all women.

Purpose of the funds (what will your generous contribution help cover?):

Support the immediate living expenses of Safath and Amairah including:
  • daycare fees
  • snow removal service
  • home cleaning service
  • mortgage payments
  • savings for Amairah's future education
  • and any other home-related expenses

Your contribution will provide stability during this challenging period.

Every donation, no matter the amount, will make a meaningful difference. Let's come together as a community to ease the financial burden on this grieving family, help secure a stable present for Amairah, and contribute to a brighter future for them.

We appreciate your kindness, thoughts, and prayers during this challenging time.

Thank you for your support!

Love,
Amairah's uncles and aunties ♥
