My Community:
My family needs your help.
I am embroiled in a difficult divorce proceeding and need help to hire a lawyer to bring this to an equitable resolution. There are child support issues involved, and my ex-husband got a new job making significantly more money than me. He can afford an excellent lawyer; I cannot.
I am also concerned that he may attempt to use my being queer as a weapon if we go to court.
As you may know, I struggled in my marriage for years, and finally decided in September 2018 that I was done. Many twists and turns later (including a child custody fight) and I am finally in the place where my divorce proceeding is underway.
That being said, my ex-husband and his attorney are dragging their feet for months (I had to file; he had represented his attorney would draft papers, and, after waiting five months and asking, nothing happened, so I filed and got things started). Since we have a child, the divorce will include child support terms and I am concerned I simply don’t have the knowledge to have this proceed equitably, especially since he is in the house we own and I need to be bought out of it.
I have considered and debated and decided I need legal representation to End This Divorce equitably and protect my daughter and me; and I need the funding to hire that attorney.
We are close to finalizing the divorce, most terms have been agreed upon, but the final stretch is the trickiest and I need guidance from legal counsel to make sure I’ve done what I can to ensure this is equitable.
