Our family has been shattered by the sudden and unexpected loss of our son/stepson, Kerehama (Bruno) Whale, on Christmas Day. Bruno was a much-loved life partner, a devoted father to three small children, and also a father to two children who reside in New Zealand. Many lives have been forever changed by his passing.

What should have been a day spent celebrating Christmas with family has instead become a lifetime of heartbreak. Bruno’s passing came without warning, leaving Riri and their three young children facing an unimaginable loss.

In the midst of deep grief, Riri is now navigating both the emotional and practical realities of caring for her children while adjusting to life after such a sudden and devastating change. As family, we wanted to do something practical to help during this incredibly difficult time.

This fundraiser has been created on Riri’s behalf to ease the immediate financial pressure, allowing her to focus on her children’s wellbeing, healing, and taking each day as it comes.

Funds raised will help with everyday essentials such as:

Housing and household bills

Groceries and basic living costs

The children’s everyday needs

We have set an initial goal of $10,000 to help cover basic living expenses for the coming weeks and months, and to provide some breathing space following this sudden loss.
