Many of you may have already heard about the massive house fire that happened in our community. The home belonged to my uncle, our neighbor. He, his son, and the other men who lived with them were all working out of town and didn’t make it back until late last night, only to find that their entire home had been completely destroyed.

Anyone who was part of this neighborhood knew how much pride he took in his home. He was always renovating, planting trees, gardening, and working hard to make the property better for his family and for the community around him. Watching all of that be lost in a single night has been heartbreaking.

They have lost everything: clothes, tools, furniture, important documents, and all the personal belongings that made their house a home. They are safe, but they are starting from nothing.

I created this GoFundMe because they are the kind of people who never hesitate to help others, and now they need our help more than ever. Every donation, big or small, will go directly toward temporary housing, clothing, necessities, and helping them rebuild after this tragedy.

Muchos de ustedes quizás ya escucharon sobre el gran incendio que ocurrió ayer en nuestra comunidad. La casa pertenecía a mi tío, nuestro vecino. Él, su hijo y los otros hombres que vivían con ellos estaban trabajando fuera de la ciudad y no regresaron hasta tarde en la noche, solo para encontrarse con que su hogar había sido completamente destruido.

Quienes forman parte de este vecindario saben cuánto orgullo tenía él por su casa. Siempre estaba renovando, plantando árboles, cuidando su jardín y trabajando duro para mejorar la propiedad para su familia y para la comunidad. Ver cómo todo eso se perdió en una sola noche ha sido muy doloroso.

Perdieron absolutamente todo: ropa, herramientas, muebles, documentos importantes y todas las pertenencias personales que hacían de esa casa un hogar. Gracias a Dios están bien, pero ahora tienen que empezar desde cero.

Creé este GoFundMe porque ellos son el tipo de personas que siempre ayudan a los demás, y ahora necesitan nuestra ayuda más que nunca. Cada donación, grande o pequeña, irá directamente para apoyarles con vivienda temporal, ropa, artículos básicos y todo lo necesario para comenzar el proceso de reconstrucción después de esta tragedia.
