Supporting our Nan and Gramp

Hiya, my name is Isobel, I am the granddaughter of Hilary and Dave (Nan and gramp).

I have set up this page to support my Nan in the coming weeks as we prepare to say goodbye to my gramp who very suddenly got diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer with secondary bone cancer.

Now I know what you are thinking, “he was probably an alcoholic”. Nope, my gramp would occasionally (twice/three times a year) treat himself to a shandy down at the pigeon club. He never smoked, was relatively healthy other than a knee op a few years ago. Why is this important to know?, cancer can get anybody and it sucks. I am super grateful that I have had my Gramp for the last 25 years of my life, for which I cherish every memory.

I know my Nan is worried about how she’ll cope financially without my gramp and how she is going to pay for the funeral costs. This really upsets me because she’s worried about this when my gramp is still here, on palliative care. I want to be able to take the stress away so she can just enjoy her time remaining with my Gramp.
