Hello! I’m Celyn, a student in York, and I’m really struggling with seeing St George’s cross everywhere and knowing it symbolises hatred and bigotry. These are things it shouldn’t stand for, but I have been feeling powerless to change the narrative.

I’m raising money to buy stickers with the England flag saying phrases like ‘Proud of our immigrants’ and ‘St George was Palestinian’. My plan is to put these on the lampposts and in areas where the flags are being used as part of the raise your flag campaign, so that we can feel more represented by what Britain truly stands for: diversity, inclusion and respect.
