Supporting Our Brother Through Loss

Hello, this summer one of our brothers in Beta Theta Pi, Jackson McGowan, suffered an unimaginable loss; his father passed away after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer leaving behind his wife, a kindergarten teacher, as well as Jackson’s two younger sisters (Ellee, 18 and Molly, 10). He and his family have been through an incredibly difficult time, emotionally and financially.

We’re starting this GoFundMe to help ease some of the financial burdens his family now faces. The primary purpose is covering all fraternity living/housing expenses (~$10,000), but any additional funds raised will cover books, fees and other academic expenses.

A note from our brother:

Hello my name is Jackson McGowan, I am currently going into my Junior year studying Construction Management here at WSU. On June 27th this year my father passed away in the hospital surrounded by all his family and more love than a room can hold after battling pancreatic cancer for 20 months. My Dad was my best friend, he taught me how to care for others, how to talk to people and make them feel important, and how to handle the struggles life throws my way. One of the most important things my father taught me was to treat everyone the same, always carry a smile on your face, and try your hardest in everything you do. We often spent the days of the summer playing golf at our local municipal where he taught me to be patient, and how to live and come back stronger with the hand you were dealt. One of the last things my dad said to me on the day he died was, “You are going to finish school”. I know that I will fulfill his wishes and make him proud. With the love that my dad had for me, my sisters, and my mom there is nothing I can do but return the love to him and finish my next two years.

My Dad grew to love Pullman and the people I know that will help me, my brotherhood. They will help me carry this grieving that has been placed upon my family. Thank you for all the love and support.
