I never imagined I would be writing a post like this, but here we are.

My dear friend — and someone I truly consider family — Niels Poulsen has lost his home to a fire. The house was completely destroyed. In the chaos of that moment, Niels had only enough time to save what mattered most: his partner Gunnar and their dogs. Everything else is gone.

While insurance will cover some practical items, it can never replace what has been lost — decades of memories, personal and professional treasures, and irreplaceable sentimental belongings. Anyone who has ever visited Niels and Gunnar’s home knows it wasn’t just a house — it was like a museum. A place filled with history, warmth, creativity, and joy. I loved staying there. So many unforgettable moments — and so many of the line dances we all enjoy today — were created within those walls.

This is one of those moments when one of our own truly needs us.

I’m reaching out to our incredible community to help raise funds to support Niels and Gunnar as they begin the long journey of rebuilding their lives. Facing a tragedy like this — especially so close to Christmas — is something none of us should have to endure alone.
