Supporting NICU Mums Through NICU life

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Wonu. I became a NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) mum when my baby girl arrived at just 24 weeks on September 25th 2025.

This fundraiser is firstly a way to honour the loving memory of my daughter, Tiwa who although made it to 41 weeks, earned her wings in January 2026 after a long and courageous NICU journey.

I can say that nothing can ever prepare you for the NICU. Having lived between 3 different hospitals, transported solely by ambulances, navigating constant uncertainty, and surviving on adrenaline requires a kind of strength I did not realise I needed. For many families, the NICU journey is long, traumatic, isolating, and financially overwhelming.

This fundraiser was created to support mothers during and after their NICU journey. Behind the scenes are sudden costs many families are not prepared for including postpartum essentials, travel, accommodation, food, baby and expressing items, missed work, and the emotional toll of living in survival mode.

During my time in the NICU, I met many incredible mothers. Although our stories were different, we were bound by one thing, our strong babies fighting every single day.

To honour my baby, I am going to do all that I can to give back starting with about 50-60 litres of expressed milk which has been donated to the Rosie Hospital Milk bank and have been told this will help at least 25-30 families.

Secondly, there’s this fund, a portion of which will be donated to The Sick Children’s Trust, a charity that provides free accommodation in and near hospitals so families can stay close to their sick children when they need it most. They were able to support us for a portion of our 119 day hospital stay.

Funds raised will also help with:
 • Carefully curated packages for NICU mums
 • Transport, accommodation, and NICU related expenses during and after the NICU experience.

Mothers shouldn’t have to grieve, heal, or survive trauma while worrying about how to cope financially as well. Thank you in advance for reading, sharing, and supporting in any way you can!
