I'm writing after a conversation with Dave, who shared with me that Nathan had recently been hospitalised due to a leg infection. He is now recovering in a hotel, where he has safe access to shelter, warmth and the personal supplies he needs. This situation comes at a significant cost, so in response I've set up a GoFundMe account as way we can together support Nathan's journey back to health. At times, the 2013 Alberta flood comes back to me like it was yesterday, and I learned something about life that I still believe today when I remember the generosity of friends and family. It may take a village to raise a child, but it also takes a village to sustain adults.
