Hi everyone,
My name is Kimberley Reid, and my husband is Kemar Reid from Canada . We are raising funds to support Kemar’s parents and the community he grew up in — Knapdale, Brown’s Town, St. Ann, Jamaica. This is the place Kemar lived his whole life before moving to Canada, and the people there mean the world to him.
Recently, Hurricane Mislisa caused severe impact across their area. Although the hurricane didn’t make a direct hit, the strong winds and heavy rainfall caused major damage and left many families without basic resources.
Kemar’s parents were heavily affected:
• They have been without electricity since the hurricane passed
• Their small car wash was destroyed
• The roof of their store was torn off
• Many neighbours in their community are also without power and dealing with damage
• Daily life has become extremely difficult, with limited resources to rebuild or support their families
Knapdale is a close, hardworking community, but right now they are struggling. Kemar’s parents have always helped others around them, and now both they and their neighbours need support.
How the funds will help:
• Repairing the roof of the store
• Replacing equipment lost at the car wash
• Providing basic necessities and supplies for the household
• Assisting neighbours in Knapdale who are also without power or resources
• Supporting the community as they rebuild and wait for electricity to return
Since GoFundMe requires the organizer to withdraw funds in a supported country, the donations will be sent to us in Canada. We will then transfer the funds directly to Kemar’s family in Jamaica through a trusted service so they can begin repairs and help their community.
Any amount — big or small — will truly make a difference for our family and the people of Knapdale. If you’re not able to donate, sharing this fundraiser also helps more than you know.
Thank you so much for your kindness, support, and prayers during this difficult time.
