Over the last couple of months, our family has been hit with more than we ever could’ve prepared for. My mom was recently diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer, and she just completed the first of four rounds of chemotherapy this past Friday. Less than 48 hours later, we lost my Grandma Miller, mom’s mother.
We’re doing everything we can to support Mom as she fights through treatment and to help her navigate the heartbreak of losing her mom at the same time. Insurance is covering most of the medical side, and we’re incredibly grateful for that. But what insurance doesn’t cover is the day-to-day reality of caregiving. My dad has had to take time off work to take care of Mom, driving her to appointments, helping her manage side effects, and just being there so she’s not going through any of this alone.
The time away from work is creating financial strain at the worst possible moment. The last thing Mom needs right now is worry about bills, or expenses piling up while she’s trying to heal and grieve.
I’m putting this together because many people have asked how they can help. Anything contributed will go directly toward easing the financial strain, and the support Mom needs so my dad can continue to be by her side.
If you’re able to help in any way, whether through a donation, sharing this page, or simply keeping our family in your thoughts and prayers we appreciate it more than you know. Mom has always shown up for everyone around her. We’re just trying to make sure she feels that same support now, when she needs it most.
Thank you for reading and for caring about our family.
