Hello everyone!! Our names are Sarah Byers and Brooke Franks and we are writing to you out of love & support for two of our good friends & their new tiny baby boy.
On March 20, 2022. Elizabeth Metts and Ryan Kolosky's lives were forever changed. On a typical Saturday morning, Liz went from having a normal healthy pregnancy, to being 5 centimeters dilated and having to give birth to their 24-week old baby in what felt like a blink of an eye.
That morning Liz had gone to Excela Hospital when she started to experience what she thought were Braxton Hicks contractions and slight vaginal bleeding. Quickly, she would be transported by ambulance to West Penn Hospital for a closer look. When she got to West Penn, she was told by the doctors there that she was 5 centimeters dilated and was having actual real contractions. Through tears, Liz asked what was going to happen, and she was told there was nothing they could do to stop the pregnancy at this point. Liz and Ryan were going to meet their baby within the next 48 hours.
After a long, sleepless night for both Ryan and Liz, Liz gave birth to their beautiful baby boy at 5:35 am on March 21, 2022 weighing just 1 pound 9 oz, 16 weeks early. Ryan and Liz kept everyone waiting for what seemed like forever, but finally decided to name their little miracle after his dad. Ryan Allen Kolosky Jr.
With under developed lungs, immune system, and many other incumbrances, baby Ryan will now have to spend the next 3 months in the NICU at West Penn before he can finally come home with mom and dad.
Baby Ryan was doing so well for his first week of life, but it got to the point where his lungs were like "okay, I need some extra support" so on March 30, 2022, baby Ryan was intubated, but he is handling it like a champ!
Ryan, Liz, and Ryan Jr. have such a long road ahead of them. And traveling to and from Pittsburgh is a major expense for them right now. Also, with Liz being off of work earlier then she anticipated and not knowing when her return will be, they are left to rely on Ryans income alone for the time being.
Ryan and Liz would NEVER ask for help from anyone, in fact they do not even know Brooke and I choose to set this up for them (surprise guys, we all love you so much). But, thats the beauty of Ryan and Liz. They are always so willing to help everyone else, that now we have the opportunity to help them!
So please, friends and family from all over, if you feel so inclinded please consider donating to the many unforeseen expenses that will inevitably come up as they journey through bringing baby Ryan home for good. If you are not able to give at this time that is completely fine, but I will ask you to send some prayers if you believe or just some good thoughts to Liz, Ryan, baby Ryan, West Penn Hospital, and all the doctors and nurses who are providing the best care they can right now!
Last but not least, please consider sharing this link as often as you would like and as many places as you can. Lets help this little fighter baby Ryan Jr. come home and lets help ease a little from Ryan and Liz in their time of need! I will post status updates here as often as I can on Baby Ryan for all that are following his journey!
Much love. Thank you.
