Supporting Lee with his Terminal Cancer diagnosis

Hi, my name is Lee!
I have been battling cancer for over 2 years now, experiencing every complication you could think of! From a stroke during chemo to ITU admissions, clinical trials - you name it. Unfortunately my diagnosis is terminal and despite the best efforts of the Royal Marsden Hospital alternative treatments via clinical trials have not managed to contain my disease. We as a family, my wife Liz and three children, are not sure of what’s to come but appreciate any support in helping make this time a little lighter.

A bit more detail below…
Where to begin, well I’m married to Liz and we have been together for nearly 20 years. We have three wonderful children two of which are my step children and one other child of ours. I’ve always considered myself a pretty lucky bloke and I’ve always worked hard as most people do to get where I was. Cancer has caused havoc with our lovely family in 2014 Liz found a lump in her breast. Liz had it checked at our local oncology department, I was 300 miles away working as you do to support your family. My mum went with Liz to get her results as Liz kept saying she was fine and it was just a fatty lump. My mum phoned me at my hotel telling me everything was fine, relieved I carried on with work. I travelled home on the Friday to hear the results weren’t good and Liz had breast cancer. We went through the process and she had radiotherapy and was told all was good. Eight years later, boom it was back. So here we go again but this time a mastectomy had to be performed followed by chemotherapy. Meanwhile we are reassuring the kids and close friends every thing was fine. The kids were coping really well with their mums illness. Then two years later Liz was at the end of chemo and all was looking up. But not for long, after getting some things checked out I was told I had throat cancer and needed chemo. The first lot of chemo caused a stroke which led to all sorts of problems. I was admitted to intensive care with pneumonia and came through it to then be told I also had it in my mouth and lung. Spoke to the doctor and she said it was treatable but not curable. After given 8 months to live at age 52 it devastated us as a family. Then my eldest daughter a nurse at the Royal Brompton suggested we get intouch with the Royal Marsden cancer specialists at a last ditch attempt to prolong my life. They then put me on a clinical trial after many rounds of tests. With our youngest daughter turning 18 we decided it was time to tell her the whole truth about me having a shortened life. The final blow came when Liz found another lump, more doctors, tests to be told, Liz you have breast cancer again. This has totally ruined our plans of family holidays due to not being able to work and loss of wages and hospital commitments.
With this page I hope to ease some stresses of our situation. With my treatment and medication one toilet in the house is not ideal as I need it more than normal. I would like to see if we can get enough people to donate and help pay for a downstairs toilet for us.
