Hello! I’m Kelsey, a parent of a 3 year old boy in Keisha’s class. I’m organizing this fundraiser to support one of our teachers who has gone through unimaginable loss in the last year. Thanks for taking the time to read some of Keisha’s story.

For those who don’t know her - Keisha joined us in September last year after she moved and made big life changes to support her family. As some of you know, Keisha tragically lost her daughter, Sumer, last March 2025 and took on the role of raising her spunky, sweet little 4 year old granddaughter, Samara. This year started off very tough with the tragic and unexpected death of Keisha’s sister, Ciara.

As you can imagine, along with the immense grief, there is a huge financial load that comes with both of these losses. The cost of the funerals, time off work for bereavement and travel as well as the continued cost of supporting her family and raising her granddaughter.

I have always felt like my children’s teachers are an extension of our family, and I know many of you feel the same. I would love to show Keisha there is an amazing community of people who are here to support her.
