Supporting Kaden

Back in June Kaden had a CT and bronchoscopy done that is when they found the vascular ring. Mid July we scheduled his surgery, which was August 29th. He had the ligament that formed the ring clipped and they also moved one of his blood vessel from his heart to the proper spot.

As of September 1st he was doing well full eating and looking like we were going home til his chest tube drainage changed to a milky color. That is when he was put on the no fat diet for four days. His drainage started to come down then went back up.

On September 6th he went on lipids and tpn for nutrition in hopes to stop the drainage. Couple days in they added a medication to help and it started to work. Once that med was stopped his output came up again.

That brings us to September 12th where he had to be sedated and put on a vent. They did a procedure called pleurodesis, when they put a chemical into his chest and slosh it around to seal up the leak. Which the leak they are trying to stop is chyle.

in this whole process Dustin and myself have been staying with him at Children’s Hospital, unfortunately missing Landon’s first day of kindergarten.
