Hi, my name is Dayna & I am Jordy’s big sister. Jordy (15-years old) went to hospital on the 9th August 2025 complaining of chest pain and shortness of breath. It was clearly identified that his heart was very sick and he needed to be transferred from his small town, rural hospital to the Queensland Children’s Hospital. Jordy has spent a week so far in the PICU where he has been diagnosed with heart failure due to dilated cardiomyopathy. The doctors do not know what caused his condition and do not believe they ever will.

Dilated cardiomyopathy means that Jordy’s heart was stretched out and has now become like a ‘floppy balloon’. One cardiologist explained that Jordy’s heart is mostly ‘dead tissue’. Very quickly doctors have identified that Jordy’s heart will not be able to support his body without intensive medical support and therefore he will need to undergo a heart transplant (should he pass all the tests to be successfully placed on the waitlist). Doctors have been factual and honest and have shared the harsh reality that a lot of people in Australia go on transplant waitlists and do not get a heart in time due to the limited number of registered donors.

Even though we do not know how long Jordy may be waiting (months or years) we do know that he is being well supported in hospital to try get him as much independence and autonomy as possible for his wait.

This Gofund Me page has been created with Jordy’s permission and is for intention to support his wait for a heart. Whilst we are very fortunate in Australia to not have medical expenses especially in emergency situations like this, given that Jordy is only 15-years old he is needing support from both his parents during this journey.

Money raised for Jordan is intended to help provide financial relief so that Jordy’s parents can commit to taking time off work to stay at the hospital and support him on this unpredictable and most likely long medical journey. Money is requested to help support Jordy to access leisure items and anything that will improve his quality of life whilst going from a very active, farming lifestyle to extended periods of bed rest and time in hospital. Money is also being requested because the reality is, Jordy has an identical twin brother at home that is a minor and will also need parental support during this difficult time.

Jordy is a strong, determined, funny & tough young man who is loved so deeply by all our friends & family. Whilst he will be supported no matter what, this call for financial support will help ensure that all of those around him can band together, be present and help as much as he needs. Also, hospital parking even discounted is nightmarishly expensive.
