Supporting Johanna's Daughters

My name is Kim Murphy, and this is a Go Fund Me for Johanna's daughters.  Johanna and I met on our first day of High School and instantly became best friends.  Her family, friends, and I  invite you to read below to better understand the situation.  100% of all donations to Johanna's daughters will go directly to them in a bank account that is set up in trust for them.

Johanna Marie (Olsson) Gilbert was 48 years old, living on Staten Island with her husband, Steve, and two daughters, Alyane (16) and Victoria (11).

Johanna was diagnosed with Stage IV metastatic breast cancer in 2013.  At diagnosis it had already spread to her bones and lymph nodes.  She immediately began treatment, and over the years continued with an aggressive approach in an effort to survive for her daughters.

Last January, while in the fifth year of battling her disease, Johanna lost her husband suddenly and unexpectedly to liver disease.  Although her world was devastated, she kept fighting to ensure she would be here for Alayne and Victoria.

She genuinely approached each day with optimism and a smile.  Her positive attitude was contagious. She continued to work full-time, undergo treatment, care for her daughters, create special memories with her girls, and spend quality time with family and friends.

Johanna was so very kind, always donating to many causes that her friends' supported, even as she was experiencing many financial burdens of her own.   Only a few weeks ago, she spoke at a Career Day to introduce local youth to the Physician Assistant profession, which she loved being a part of.

On April 7, 2019 we lost our beloved Johanna after a six year hard-fought battle.  For those of us that knew her well, we are heartbroken.  For her daughters, this is the most unimaginable thing to happen, losing both parents within 15 months of each other.

Johanna's mother, Dolores, will be caring for Alayne and Victoria.  Dolores is a loving and headstrong woman of 86 years.  She will take on this role, and there is no doubt that she will shine.  However, she needs our support.

Emotionally.
Physically.
Financially.

We are seeking contributions to help Dolores care for Alayne and Victoria, and to also help with their schooling as they grow out of the public school system.

What can you do?
 - Pray for Alayne and Victoria.  Please.

-  Thoughtfully consider a financial donation to help support Alayne, Victoria, and Dolores as they re-adjust to this new normal.

Together we can ensure Johanna's girls receive the love and support they deserve as they grow into women that embody the characteristics of their strong, smart, loving, and beautiful mother.

Thank you!!!

xoxo
