On the second of May our world was turned upside down when my husband Jarred, only 38 year's old, suffered a massive heart attack followed by another shortly after. He was rushed to hospital where doctors acted quickly and inserted a stent to stabilise him. Right now, Jarred is still in hospital under close care. There is still a blockage of the left heart valve that specialists are working out how to treat, and they are also managing blood clots. We are working with the medical team to determine the next steps. In the months leading up to this, Jarred had already been unable to work while recovering from surgery to repair damage caused during a routine colonoscopy. This had already placed our family under financial strain and left us behind on bills. Jarred is an incredible dad to our three children — one in their first year of university, one in their final year of high school, and our youngest, who is 8 and has additional needs and is struggling to understand what is happening to his dad. With this sudden medical emergency, things have become even more overwhelming. I am still working, but between caring for our three kids, supporting Jarred at the hospital, and managing everything at home, I am unable to work the hours we need to keep up. We are falling behind quickly. Stress has been a major factor in everything Jarred has been going through, and our hope with this fundraiser is to ease some of that pressure so he can focus on recovering without the added worry of financial strain. Funds raised will go directly towards keeping our family afloat during this time — including mortgage, household bills, school fees, groceries, fuel, and the ability for me to be there to support Jarred while he recovers without falling further behind financially. As you can imagine, this has been an incredibly stressful and uncertain time for our family. We are asking for any support, big or small, to help us get through this period while Jarred focuses on recovery. If you’re not in a position to donate, sharing this page would mean so much to us. Thank you for your kindness, support, and for keeping Jarred in your thoughts.
