Dear Friends, Family, Ohana, and Kind Supporters-
My name is Alyssa, and my mom DeAnna Hartynyk, a beloved teacher, social worker, children’s advocate, and beautiful soul, has suffered a catastrophic and debilitating injury.
I am reaching out with a heavy heart but a hopeful spirit to ask for your support during this challenging time for my family.
On Friday, October 3rd, at 7:45 a.m, DeAnna fell down concrete stairs while exiting the back door of her workplace. Her leg landed forcefully on one of the steps before she tumbled to the ground. An ambulance was called soon after.
When I arrived, my poor mom was in excruciating pain despite the best efforts of EMS and firefighters.
“Alyssa, they’re killing me,” she cried.
Her screams of anguish caused me to sob uncontrollably as I fumbled to gather her belongings.
I followed the ambulance to the hospital, where she was rushed into emergency surgery. She was terrified, and I comforted her as much as I could before she went into the operating room.
“This is the worst pain I’ve ever had in my life,” she said.
“It’s okay, Mom. It’ll be a quick surgery,” I reassured her.
I sat in the surgical waiting area for six hours with no updates on her condition, only to learn later that there had been severe complications during her surgery, which involved the insertion of a titanium rod in her femur and cost upwards of $40,000, well after she was in post-op recovery.
My mom is a kind, hardworking woman who has always been there for our family and every community she has served. For over 40 years, she has dedicated her life to helping children and families, and now she needs help herself.
This injury and its complications have left her unable to move freely and in significant pain. She faces a recovery period of at least six months, during which she will require extensive care. The rehabilitation center where she’s being sent and the physical therapy she requires are essential to restoring her mobility and quality of life. However, due to the severity of her injury, it is unlikely she will be able to walk unassisted again.
As a family, we are doing everything we can, but we cannot manage this burden alone. We have temporarily shut down our small business and are working tirelessly to make ends meet. This is why I’m humbly asking for your support. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference in helping my mother get the care she needs.
Your donation will go directly toward ensuring she has the resources to recover as fully as possible.
If you’re able to contribute, you can donate through our GoFundMe page or via Venmo/CashApp at AATreatsLLC. Please leave kind words or prayers for her when donating.
If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this message with others who know her, have met her, or love her, or simply keep my mother in your thoughts and prayers as we fight for her recovery.
We are deeply grateful for your kindness, generosity, and support during this difficult time. Your help will not only ease our financial burden but also give my mother hope and strength as she faces this long recovery.
With heartfelt thanks,
The Hartynyk Family
