Our family is asking for support during an unimaginably difficult time as we walk alongside our beloved Christopher Woods, a devoted husband, father, Gramps, son, and brother, who is now in the end stages of Stage 4 bile duct and liver cancer.

Earlier this year, Chris was diagnosed with advanced cancer. Despite every effort from his medical team, his disease progressed rapidly, spreading throughout his liver and into his lungs while his liver function declined beyond what treatment could support. After multiple hospitalizations in Texas and a transition to palliative care, Chris’s condition has now reached a critical point. He is being cared for at home, surrounded by the people who love him most.

To be with him during this time, his daughter Seggan, her husband, and their two boys have traveled from Colorado, and his son Jack has come home from his freshman year at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. Chris is also deeply supported by his parents and several of his siblings who live locally in Texas. Together, the entire family has gathered to provide comfort, care, and presence during his final days, and to support his wife, Kelli, who has been his full-time caregiver through every moment of this journey.

Because everything has unfolded so quickly, Seggan has had to step away from her business, The Element Room, with no notice. She is unable to work while in Texas, and the family is navigating the emotional and financial strain of extended travel, daily expenses, food for a full household, and the needs that come with end-of-life care.

This fundraiser will help the family with:

• Travel and lodging expenses for family who urgently traveled to Texas

• Lost income while Seggan is away from her studio in Colorado

• Meals and basic necessities for a household of loved ones gathered together

• Caregiving support for Chris and support for Kelli

• End-of-life needs that arise in the coming days

Chris has always been the heart of every gathering: a self-taught cook who fed people with love, a man who showed up for his family in every way possible, and someone who made every home warm and welcoming. Anyone who knows him knows his generosity, his humor, and how deeply he loves his wife, his children, and his grandkids. Now, as his body grows tired, our only goal is to give him peace, dignity, and the comfort of knowing his family is here.
