Join me in supporting my friend Cheniqua Johnson who has recently accepted a new position and will be moving from Minnesota to Washington DC this December!
We all know moving can be a hassle – rent costs, moving expenses, cost of furniture, etc. We are so excited for Cheniqua and want to make this more doable for her. Way too often, women of color don't ask for help. We do it all on our own. This is not something we want her to have to do on her own. We want to show her that she has a community alongside her on this journey to a new place.
Why am I supporting Cheniqua? Not only is Cheniqua our friend and we love her. Cheniqua is a dynamic leader! Since graduating from the University of Minnesota in the fall of 2017, she has worked for congressional leaders, a county commissioner, and even ran for the State Representative seat last year! Now she will return to Congress in Washington DC! She’s a first generation college graduate, TRIO alumna, former State House candidate, #blackgirlmagic, and talented woman who we know and love. When we asked her what she needed, she told us she needed extra funds so she won’t need to stress about this wonderful opportunity. Any chance we get, we want to support young, progressive, woman of color, community driven leader succeed. Our goal is $3000 to help Cheniqua with all her moving expenses, first month’s rent/security deposit, and cost of living until her first payday (federal government gets paid once a month) of January 2020. Any and all of your givings will invest in Cheniqua and go towards getting her to DC and supporting her on her first month there.
