Help a Nurse, Mother of 3, Fight Stage 3 Breast Cancer
11 years ago, my wife changed my life over a cup of blueberry tea from Tim Hortons.
We were both from small towns in Newfoundland and met online back in 2014. On our first date, she asked me to bring her a blueberry tea. Afterward, I actually drove back through the drive-thru just to buy one for myself because it smelled so good.
That night, she took me for a drive along the ocean through quiet Newfoundland towns, and we sat under the stars talking about life, family, and the future.
I remember thinking:
“Where has this woman been my whole life?”
Today, the woman who became my wife, the mother of our three children, and the heart of our family is fighting for her life.
My wife has been diagnosed with Stage 3 Triple-Negative Breast Cancer, and it has spread to her lymph nodes.
Everything changed overnight.
My wife is not only an incredible mother — she is also a nurse who has spent years caring for others during some of the hardest moments of their lives. She has always been the person people lean on when they are scared, hurting, or need help.
Now she is the one needing help.
The treatments have been physically and emotionally devastating. Some days she is so exhausted she can barely get through the day, yet she still worries more about our children more than herself.
That’s who she is.
We currently live in Fort McMurray, Alberta, but many of her treatments and specialist appointments are in Edmonton. We are constantly traveling back and forth while trying to hold our family together and keep life stable for our kids.
Behind closed doors, we have tried to carry this burden alone.
We drained savings.
We adjusted everything we could.
We pushed through quietly.
But cancer does not care how hard you work.
The financial pressure has become overwhelming.
We are now facing:
Constant medical travel between Fort McMurray and Edmonton
Hotel stays during treatment
Medications not fully covered
Childcare costs for our three children
Lost income during treatment and recovery
Everyday household expenses while trying to survive this fight
Asking for help is one of the hardest things we have ever had to do.
We have always been hardworking people who believed in handling life ourselves, but this battle has pushed us beyond what we can manage alone.
We are trying to raise $35,000 to help our family stay afloat as well as keep the family together, while my wife fights this disease. We've already accumulated over $16,000 in unexpected expenses from this fight. we would appreciate it so much to not have to feel the crushing weight of this diagnosis with heavy financial burden on top...
Every donation helps relieve the crushing pressure this illness has placed on our family.
Every share helps our story reach someone else.
Every prayer means more than we can properly express.
Right now, our focus is simple:
Keep her fighting.
Keep our children stable.
Keep our family together.
If you are able to support our family in any way, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
And if you cannot donate, please consider sharing this campaign.
You never think cancer will happen to your family until one day it does.
With love and gratitude,
The Lingard Family,
Jeff, Candace, Caden, Charlotte and Everleigh
Bless you all
