In the Blink of an Eye

Donation protected
It was a morning like any other ordinary Saturday morning after staying up a bit too late the night before. The coffee pot was turned on for that first-morning cup. Sleepy eyes caught up on text messages and group chats. Yet one aspect of the morning took a sudden, dramatic turn to alter a life forever.

Background
It was late summer 2019. The world had no idea of the impending new decade, but two people happened to meet because a mutual friend had a hunch that these two single souls might just be a match. Was it ever a match! Flash forward a year later, not only did the world discover what the new decade had in store, but those two united souls were suddenly separated, leaving heartache and sorrow.

While it is hard to sum up in one paragraph the life that was made together and shared by Becky and Ray, those of us who know Becky are keenly aware that she had found the love of her life with Ray; and we know that her feeling of loss is deep with Ray's sudden passing.

Supporting Becky
We all know that there are "normal" ways to support someone in their time of loss and grief. What we may not think about are the new ways we -- family members, friends, co-workers, gym pals -- can support those we love. That is why this GoFundMe was created.

We can show our support to Becky and her daughter with a financial gift as they face new challenges set before them -- saying goodbye to a loved one, beginning the process of healing -- and the daunting task of setting up a new home.

Because Becky's housing situation will be changing very soon, we can support her and her daughter now by raising funds to cover impending rent or mortgage fees, new utility deposits, moving costs, and increased insurance policies. Any funds raised in this campaign will go directly to Becky and her daughter to help them more easily navigate the path on their way to a new home -- a home that will be filled with love and memories.

"All of us, at some time or other, need help. Whether we're giving or receiving help, each one of us has something valuable to bring to the world. That's one of the things that connects us as neighbors -- in our own way, each of us is a giver and a receiver." -- Fred Rogers

Who am I?
In case you are wondering who I am. My name is Jeremy, and I met Becky four years ago when her best friend married my best friend. Little did the world know that a gal from Michigan and a guy from Oklahoma would become instant friends when sent to the grocery store to buy some food for a party. What the world did know is that we'd each be there for each other in the good times and the not-so-good times, and I'm so proud to be here for Becky right now.

I hope you'll stand with me as we raise Becky up in thought, in prayer, and in action. Offering help shows compassion to those we love and gratitude for those who have helped us in the past.

We can all be that neighbor Mr. Rogers talked about. All it takes it that one step.

What else can I do?
If you're not able to financially help, please consider sharing this GoFundMe and your favorite Becky story on social media. You never know who else might be willing to help.

There is power in numbers, and Becky has all of the right numbers on her side!
