This campaign is for two incredibly special people, Daniela and Gonzalo, who arrived in Manitoba earlier this year in hopes of building a safe, stable, and loving future for their growing family away from South America.

I met them in January, and over the past few months they have become not only close friends of mine, but truly like family. I have also been given the incredible honor of becoming the godmother to their baby — something I will cherish forever.

As they prepare to welcome their little one in the beginning of June, they are facing heartbreaking and unexpected challenges that no family should have to go through alone. Despite working hard to build a new life here, they were unfortunately denied Manitoba Health coverage because they did not meet the current eligibility requirements. This has left them facing overwhelming medical expenses during an already vulnerable time.

Daniela and Gonzalo have shown incredible strength, resilience, and love while navigating a completely new country, new systems, and the many stresses that come with starting over. Funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward essential prenatal and medical care for both Daniela and Baby S, baby necessities, and basic living supports so they can focus on what matters most: bringing their baby safely into the world.
