When we started this fundraiser, it was created to support **Cornell’s Jane Doe.** As this effort grew and we learned about **LSU’s Kendall Francis,** its purpose expanded. Kendall joined as a co-organizer, and this fundraiser became an effort to support both women while standing with survivors more broadly.
As of October 2, 2026 at 2:15pm: Jane sent us an incredibly moving message expressing how much that support has meant to her (see update with screenshot of email correspondence w/representative). She also shared that she is fortunate to have financial safety net that many survivors do not and has asked that **the portion intended for her instead be used to help survivors who need it most.** We will honor her wishes. ❤️ We are determining the most responsible and transparent way to do that and will update everyone once those details are finalized. Feel free to send messages for suggestions, thoughts, comments.
Community support matters enormously, but **community support is not a substitute for institutional accountability.** We raised this money because, while these systems continue to fail survivors, we refuse to leave people to carry those consequences alone. From the beginning, it was important that Jane and Kendall knew people were standing behind them without requiring them to ask for that support first. It was equally important that the decision about whether to accept it remained entirely theirs.
**For Cornell’s Jane Doe, LSU’s Kendall Francis, and all survivors.**
In solidarity,
Jaimie Elowsky, Brooke LaLone, & Kendall Francis
