My friend Z has been accepted into Harvard Kennedy School, which something he's been working toward for a long time. This part of his education will help him further his interreligious peacebuilding efforts in his home and among the people he loves, but HKS is very expensive! If you'd like to come alongside Z as he continues his peacebuilding work, you can read more about his story below.
It's been a joy to get to know Z over the past couple of years at divinity school together. We've had class together, worshipped together, and gone on some memorable field trips! Z is famous in my church community for being the kids' favorite camp counselor at our Summer Meals day camp! He is a wonderful human being, and his peacebuilding work is a beautiful and compelling extension of his values and his witness.
ABOUT Z
Z was raised by his remarkable mother, a 79-year-old pillar of strength, after losing his father at the age of 18 months, his academic journey has been marked by resilience and determination. His first degree earned was in Agricultural Engineering.
Z'S PASSION FOR PEACEBUILDING
Z's experience during a violent religious conflict in 2001, which saw his family home razed, ignited his passion for peacebuilding and interreligious dialogue. This drive has been the cornerstone of his academic and professional pursuits.
Z's ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS
In 2023, Z was accepted into the Master of Theological Studies program at Harvard Divinity School, with a focus on Religion, Ethics, and Politics. Z is set to graduate on May 29. During his time at HDS, he developed a keen interest in politics and policy, recognizing their importance in advancing peacebuilding efforts in his home and around the globe.
Z'S FUTURE ASPIRATIONS
Building on his experience and knowledge, Z applied to the highly competitive Mid-Career Master of Public Administration (MC/MPA) program at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, and was accepted. Z is determined to pursue this opportunity, which will equip him with the skills, expertise, and relationships necessary to make a meaningful impact.
Z'S CURRENT SITUATION
With a looming deadline of May 16 for financial certification, Z is exploring options to secure funding for the MC/MPA program, which comes with a total tuition cost of $82,000, and which does not offer financial aid to most students. This amount is a significant challenge for Z, so he is reaching out for assistance in securing funding avenues to support his academic pursuits. Z says, "Your contribution would be instrumental in helping me achieve my goals and make a positive impact in my community and beyond."
Thank you for assisting, and even for the intention and best wishes!
