Hi, I’m Yvonne, from the community of Brighton, Bluefields in Westmoreland, Jamaica. Our community was decimated by the recent passing of Hurricane Melissa, which devastated our community, among others, as it packed winds of 185 miles per hour, at times gusting to 220 mph. My community has been flattened. People are homeless and have to be sheltering in houses without roofs. The situation is dire. I’m therefore pleading for any assistance that can be rendered. Included on the list of some needed items are: batteries, battery-powered drills, shovels, axes, hammers, machetes, repellent, masks (disposable), battery-operated radios, portable stoves, butane burners, gloves, water boots, basic hand tools, cleaning products, flashlights, tarpaulins (plenty), tents, sleeping bags, bed linens, garbage bags, nails, solar lights, and over-the-counter medications.
Thank you so much for your generosity.
