<div>Hi, I’m Yvonne, from the community of Brighton, Bluefields in Westmoreland, Jamaica. Our community was decimated by the recent passing of <strong>Hurricane Melissa</strong>, which devastated our community, among others, as it packed winds of 185 miles per hour, at times gusting to 220 mph. <strong>My community has been flattened. People are homeless and have to be sheltering in houses without roofs. The situation is dire.</strong> I’m therefore pleading for any assistance that can be rendered. Included on the list of some needed items are: batteries, battery-powered drills, shovels, axes, hammers, machetes, repellent, masks (disposable), battery-operated radios, portable stoves, butane burners, gloves, water boots, basic hand tools, cleaning products, flashlights, tarpaulins (plenty), tents, sleeping bags, bed linens, garbage bags, nails, solar lights, and over-the-counter medications.
