Clubhouse Commons is a youth-for-youth experiential learning, expressive arts, and community center serving young people in the greater Central Vermont area. Charged with a mission to support youth in establishing an identity grounded in a sense of belonging and purpose, Clubhouse Commons will uplift our younger generations and ensure that they are understood as invaluable members of our community. By supporting the institution of Clubhouse Commons, you will be an essential part of an effort to secure a foundational connection between our underserved youth population and the future of this beautiful state.
We are actively pursuing 4 Langdon St in downtown Montpelier, VT. A centrally located, iconic space, with previous occupants such as Bent Nails Bistro and the renowned Langdon St Cafe. To effectively serve young people, we must position ourselves to be as convenient and accessible as possible. This model places young people where they belong, at the heart of our community.
Clubhouse will provide young people with a vibrant, bustling, social hub that genuinely belongs to them. We plan to regularly stage youth bands, host fun community events (like movie and game nights!), and run experiential learning workshops led by passionate young mentors, which will aim to embolden young people to pursue self-inquiry and participate in profound, mutually beneficial civic engagement. The spaces that do exist for young people often sit stagnant, underfunded, understaffed and undersupported. Through quality programming, intentionally chosen space, and accessibility to the greater community Clubhouse Commons will be perpetually alive.
To bring this project to fruition we must prove that we have the money to maintain eight months of operations before we can sign the lease. We predict that we will need $50,000 to do so. We must present this money by July 1st. We have funding potential, we have a sustainability model, but before we can receive grants or bring in revenue, we must exist as a physical establishment. So we are sending a call out to the community. Let's bring this beautiful vision to life together.
Clubhouse Commons is a space built by young people, for young people, to the benefit of the greater community. As a team of young advocates, we approach the work we do with an informed perspective. We understand the needs of young people, because they are our needs too. Young people need places to go that are socially sustainable and exciting, foster multi-generational connections founded on mutual respect, and provide a meaningful sense of direction as they construct and contextualize who they want to be in the world. With your generous support, these needs can be met, and together we can kindle the spark that burns so brightly within our youth. Young people are our future, and we are invested. Are you?
