Fundraiser for Tuk Youth Cultural Programs

Hello friends and family, 

The local community of Tuktoyaktuk has been incredible to Cinder and me, and we want to give back for making our time in the Arctic special. This amazing community gave me the strength to stay positive during my first northern experience, and I am forever grateful to everyone for their guidance.
 
To express our gratitude, we will be raising funds for the Jason Jacobson Youth Centre. The children and youth of Tuktoyaktuk have a passion for their Inuvialuit culture which connects them to these beautiful lands. The Youth Center offers cultural workshops, programs, and activities year-round, which supports the well-being of the community and keeps traditions thriving amongst the new generation.
 
The programs offered include: sewing workshops, harvesting berries, hunting and trapping opportunities, Elder storytelling, music lessons, drum dance practices and local radio shows. They also host monthly in-house pool and ping-pong tournaments, and seasonal baseball tournaments.
 
All funds raised will support these programs. 

To help reach our goal of $10,000, there will be several fundraising events held between now and the end of June. Our first initiative will take place April 15th - 16th, cycling from Tuktoyaktuk to Aklavik. Once we reach Inuvik, we'll cycle the ice road to the final destination. Other fundraising initiatives might include raffles, bingos and community events.
