As many of you may or may not know, the larger consequence of being classified under the UGMA is that it encourages high-density growth; and in the end, mandates sewer for Suncrest and surrounding areas within the UGMA, which has a huge price tag. In fact, the property for a sewage plant has already been secured through a deal made between the three prior county commissioners and PUD.
Additionally, as you may or may not know, the Suncrest Neighbors’ Association has secured the services of an attorney to help with our cause. This same attorney was successful in helping Loon Lake, WA, be reclassified rather than the Urban Growth Area (UGA) designation.
Also, In recent news, due to the overturned decision by our county commissioners to allow 4 plex apartments to be built in our community, we now will need legal funds to proceed in superior court.
While it is never easy to ask for money, the truth is that in order to preserve the quality of life we have come to love here in Suncrest and adjacent areas included in the UGA, your help is essential and will be a small price to pay now in contrast to the amount we would have to pay for a sewer system.
Your suggested contribution of a $10 (maybe $25? Or $35?) to the Suncrest Neighbors’ Association would go a long way toward achieving our mutual goal. The money will be used to pay attorney’s fees related to Ms. Novak’s 4 plex application, her appeal (if necessary), fundraising efforts, as well as general legal counsel with regard to helping our area be removed from the Lake Spokane Urban Growth Area and revert back to the Rural designation or other possible designations.
Of course if you can do so, please feel free to donate more than the suggested contribution amount. As the saying goes, “it takes a village.” In regard to our common goal, no truer words have ever been spoken. Every penny helps!
Together we CAN make a difference! Let’s keep Suncrest rural!
