My youngest son and daughter-in-law's house caught on fire yesterday. My son, daughter-in-law, and grandson are safe as well as their dog and four cats. They were not at home at the time the fire started.

They were helping my oldest son and daughter-in-law move, who are expecting a baby in two weeks and had just closed on their own new home that day.

My youngest son is a KC fireman, and the KCFD has rallied around them and shown support. Although they will be fine in the long run, they do need some short-term support with basic necessities. They are a young couple with a 6-month-old and have been in their first home for less than a year. All of the baby's items have to be thrown out, and they have to start over from scratch as baby items cannot be washed and reworn after a fire. Their mortgage payment is in a few days, so they do not have extra funds to buy a lot of extra items to meet all of their needs.
