This GoFundme is to raise funds to support Yessenia and her family as Yessenia navigates unexpected unemployment as a result of the recent federal job cuts. Up until last Friday, February 14, 2025, Yessenia was employed as full-time staff at a federal agency working in Southwest Philadelphia.

Yessenia's work was driven by her passion to build meaningful relationships with community leaders and youth. She was beloved by all for her energy and care, especially by kids with whom she regularly led programs.

Although Yessenia started in a full-time role in 2024, she started her career in Spring '22 as a biology intern. Yessenia has been committed to the community and completed 3 different internships from Spring '22 to Fall '24 just to be able to continue doing the work she is so passionate about.

This GoFundme will support Yessenia and her family's well-being by helping her cover housing, bills, groceries, and essential living costs while navigating unemployment. Additionally, she’s managing car payments after being in a no-fault accident last year and student loans that she had been working hard to pay off through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program.

We are hopeful that Yessenia will find a job soon, as she is incredible. In the meantime, though, we want to demonstrate to her that community is here to make this hard time less hard.
