"Support Yasmine Madi's Family: A Journey from Loss to Hope"
Donation protected
My name is Khaled Khalaf, originally from Palestinian origins and now residing in Italy. I want to share with you the story of Yasmine Madi, a brave woman who has faced unimaginable challenges with resilience and courage.
During my time here in Italy, I had the honor of meeting Yasmine Madi, a 39-year-old Palestinian woman. Yasmine's life took an unexpected turn when she crossed paths with her nephew, Abboud, a 19-year-old who bore the scars of tragedy in Gaza.
Abboud's Journey:
Abboud, just 19 years old, found himself in a situation no one should ever have to experience. He lost his entire family, except for his brother who remains in Gaza. Amidst the chaos and destruction, Abboud's world was shattered, and he was left with severe injuries.
Yasmine, with a heart full of compassion, made a courageous decision. She left everything behind to accompany Abboud on his healing journey. With Abboud's condition requiring specialized medical care, they embarked on a trip to Italy for multiple surgeries and a path to recovery.
Yasmine's Sacrifice:
"I am Yasmine Madi, a wife to Hassan Madi and a mother to Ali, Oday, and Dana," Yasmine shares with a heavy heart. Her voice carries the weight of the challenges she and her family have endured.
"26 members of my family lost their lives," Yasmine continues, her eyes reflecting the pain of loss. "We were displaced from Gaza to Deir al-Balah, seeking refuge and safety. Little did we know that tragedy would strike our makeshift home."
"In a devastating moment, our house was bombed, taking away the lives of 26 of our loved ones," Yasmine recounts, her voice trembling with emotion. "My brother and four nephews survived, including Abboud. His condition was critical, and we knew he needed immediate medical attention abroad."
Yasmine's decision to accompany Abboud was one of the hardest she had to make. "During the peak of the war, I received a call," she recalls. "I was told to get into an ambulance, as the borders were momentarily open. Without hesitation, I left my husband and children behind, not knowing when I would see them again."
"Abboud needed someone by his side," Yasmine explains. "Amidst the chaos, I held onto hope, praying for Abboud's recovery and for the safety of my family."
Now, Yasmine's family, including her husband and children, are retained in Rafah, facing dire circumstances. "Life in Rafah has become unbearable," Yasmine shares with a heavy heart. "Basic necessities such as food, water, schools, and hospitals are scarce. The dreams of a normal life, education, and peace seem out of reach."
"We have tried every avenue," Yasmine explains, her voice filled with determination. "We reached out to the Red Crescent in Egypt and the Palestinian Embassy in both Egypt and Italy. Yet, our efforts have been met with obstacles, leaving us with one option: to seek your support."
A Dream of Peace:
"My goal is simple yet profound," Yasmine states with unwavering determination. "I want to bring my family to safety, to a place where my children can pursue their education, where they can have a chance at a normal life again."
"After losing everything, the need to evacuate them from Rafah grows stronger," Yasmine continues. "Our hope now lies in your generosity. With your support, we can raise the funds needed to bring my husband and children to a safe place, where the Italian authorities can help us rebuild our lives."
I, Khaled Khalaf, stand here as a friend of Yasmine Madi and her family. Yasmine has entrusted me to oversee this fundraiser on her behalf. Due to her current situation with the Italian authorities, she has not yet received her official papers. At this moment, she holds a hospitality paper that allows her to stay in Italy temporarily.
Because I am a legal resident in Italy, Yasmine has asked me to administer this fundraiser. Your donations will be received by me, and I will ensure they reach Yasmine directly. This will enable her to send the funds to her family in Gaza, providing them with the means to escape the dire conditions they currently face.
Join Us in Making a Difference:
As friends, neighbors, and fellow human beings, let us come together to support Yasmine Madi's family. Your contribution, no matter the amount, will make a meaningful difference in their lives.
"Join us in this journey from loss to hope," Yasmine concludes, her voice filled with gratitude. "Together, we can bring light to the darkest of days and help my family start a new life and bring the kids and their father again with their mother."
