Ironman for Kids in Brain Rehab at Holland Bloorview

I am Xavier Bruneau, a 19-year-old student enrolled in the Management program at McGill University. While pursuing my academic goals, I've also dedicated myself to multiple physical activities such as gym workouts, sailing, mountain biking, and recently, I've embarked on the challenging journey of triathlons.
Why GOFUNDME?
My life took an unexpected turn in 2019 due to a severe longboarding accident in Death Valley, Nevada, USA. This incident resulted in several traumas, brain hemorrhages, and temporary paralysis of my right foot. It was a moment of stark realization about life's fragility and its unpredictable nature, especially for a teenager like me. Throughout this situation, all the Toronto medical specialists, and particularly those at Holland-Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, played a crucial role in my recovery. I am forever grateful for their support and care.
The experience has deeply impacted me, highlighting the importance of resilience and the significance of receiving support during challenging times. Since then, five fundamental pillars guided my path to recovery: resilience, quality sleep, hydration, nutritious eating, perseverance, and notably, engagement in sports. Participating in cardiovascular activities not only facilitated my physical rehabilitation but also greatly enhanced my mental well-being.
Now, I am determined to give back to the community that supported me. I am setting out to complete the Ironman 70.3 Muskoka in Ontario, Canada, on July 7, 2024. This endeavor symbolizes my journey through discipline, resilience, and the invaluable support of a compassionate community.
I want to achieve this goal and raise more than 10,000 CAD, to support the work of Holland-Bloorview, I am seeking your support. The funds raised will be donated to the rehabilitation center on behalf of all donors. Your financial contribution will directly impact the lives of countless individuals undergoing recovery.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about my aspirations and the reason behind my endeavor. Your support means the world to me and our community. I invite you to follow my progress on Strava @Xavier_Bruneau and on GoFundMe, where I will be posting progress of my journey.
Together, let's make a difference and spread hope for those in need of rehabilitation and support. Thank you for joining me on this meaningful journey.
