Support Xavier's Brother's Medical Recovery

Donation protected
Family and Friends,

My name is Xavier. I'm creating this fundraiser to help cover my brother Alex's family's essential expenses like rent, utilities, and groceries after losing his job due to his medical condition.

My family has a rare inherited cancer predisposition syndrome characterized by hundreds to thousands of precancerous colorectal polyps called Familial Adenomatous Polyposis or FAP.

We first learned about FAP during our preteen years as we watched our dad battle with the condition. After genetic testing came colonoscopies in our teenage years. The colonoscopies revealed that three of my brothers had hundreds of polyps growing in their large intestine. The decision was made to remove the sections of their large intestine that had a large amount of polyps. My brothers each had to get a J Pouch Surgery. That procedure involved the use of a temporary ileostomy bag while the J Pouch healed.

Over the years, my brother Alex developed too many polyps in his J Pouch and in 2022 had to undergo another surgical procedure called Total Proctocolectomy with ileostomy. In this procedure, the colon and rectum are removed and digestive contents now leave the body through a stoma (a small opening in his belly). The drainage is then collected by an external pouch/bag called an ileostomy bag. The output is constant so he needs to empty his pouch multiple times a day.

Thank God, my brother is a warrior and he has adapted to his new lifestyle. He has maintained a positive attitude and I applaud him for doing so. He has always been a hard worker and has tried to continue to work after his surgery. However, he recently lost his job due to complications from his surgery. One common complication of his type of surgery include developing a Parastomal hernia which caused him to be in and out of the hospital with extreme pain and discomfort weeks at a time. This constant hospitalization has left his wife as the sole provider for his family of five.

My brother recently went in for surgery to repair the parastomal hernia. By the grace of God, the surgery was a success and to the doctor’s surprise my brother was walking the next day after a very delicate 5-hour procedure.

My brother still has a long way before he can get back to work so my hope for this fundraiser is to raise enough funds for my brother’s essential expenses while he heals. I would also like to raise funds for him to get a vehicle as his was totaled by a passing truck while he was parked.

I want to thank you all for taking the time to read about my brother’s story.

If you’re able to please consider donating to this fundraiser or sharing it to reach a wider audience. No donation is too small! Thank you again!

God Bless!
