Support WVVT Radio: Amplify Local Voices
Donation protected
Hi everyone! My name is Jim Holway. On behalf of the Fireside Community Media project, we are raising money for a cause that means a lot to our community. WVVT Community Radio is a new community media portal located in Bristol, Vermont, serving the towns of Bristol, Lincoln, Monkton, New Haven, and Starksboro. Our mission is to grow a grassroots community platform that connects, energizes, and inspires the 5-town community through education, entertainment, and action. We aim to give voice to our community's stories, passions, and concerns and promote a place-based culture.
This fundraiser is specifically to enable the purchase of equipment that will facilitate remote digital audio production by our volunteer programmers across Bristol and Addison County. This project will expand our production capacity across a rural geography to better amplify local voices, enhance the diversity of our programming, and foster greater community connections.
We are the Founders Roundtable: Joni, Casandra, Paul, Jim, & Jill. You're catching us as we pull together the fundraising page for the Bristol, VT-centered Fireside Community Media - WVVT Radio station project.
Technically, we are NOW on the internet with crude equipment. We are in need of actual studio equipment so the community can come together with real studio equipment and share the energy of neighbors, local non-profits, and even recognize the underwriters and supporting businesses. We have already acquired private donations and key equipment commitments at an estimated value of close to $90,000. We are seeking $23,000 directly from the 5-town community to finalize the FCC proper build-out to be broadcast live over the airwaves and begin the journey as a community resource - here for emergency response when needed and here to be the Voices of Vermont with music, artistry, and talk "around the campfire..."
Every contribution, big or small, makes a real impact by helping us get this essential equipment. Investing in this remote production capability means a tangible step towards realizing our vision of co-creating the community we desire.
Here's how the success of this fundraiser directly benefits everyone in our 5-town community:
For Local Residents: This equipment makes it easier for you to host your own show or podcast and contribute your skills as a volunteer, regardless of where you are located in our rural area. It will help bring you local news, events, and music for the five towns and enable you to discover the amazing people living in our communities by making it simpler for diverse voices to share their stories.
For Community Organizations & Town Leaders: The ability for remote production allows you to more easily use this platform to amplify your mission and connect with a local audience about your events, projects, and initiatives. It helps you build awareness and gather momentum for issues that matter by facilitating participation in discussions and sharing information.
For Local Businesses: By helping us acquire this equipment, you support the growth of a values-driven media platform that provides programming your customers want to hear. A more robust and accessible station, built with enhanced production capabilities, helps to elevate and unite your community.
If you can’t donate right now, sharing this fundraiser is also incredibly helpful. You can learn more and get involved by visiting our website at wvvt.org. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. It means the world to our community.
