My name is David, and I own a martial arts business in Bakersfield, CA where we teach Tai Chi and self-defense. Tai Chi has been a passion of mine for years, and I’ve seen firsthand how it can transform lives—improving balance, mobility, focus, and reducing stress. That’s why I keep our class fees as low as possible; for me, it’s about helping the community, not making a profit.
This year, I’m organizing World Tai Chi Day at Yokuts Park on April 25, 2025, from 9–11am. The event is completely free to the public and will feature not only Tai Chi demonstrations but also other local wellness businesses offering resources and support. My hope is that by raising awareness, more people will discover the benefits of Tai Chi and take steps toward better health. I’ll also be giving away free memberships and other resources to make it even more accessible.
Putting on an event like this comes with costs for permits and fees, which is a big stretch for a small business like mine. I want to be completely transparent: while this event will hopefully bring new students to my classes, my primary motivation is to give back to the community. If you’re able to support this effort, I would be deeply grateful. In exchange, I’ll share your generosity at the event and on social media (unless you prefer to remain anonymous). Thank you for helping me make World Tai Chi Day a reality for Bakersfield!
