My name is Will Jester and on August 19th 2023 my life changed forever. I fell roughly 25feet while hanging a lock on deer stand- something I’ve done a hundred times. Since my first daughter Abney was born in 2018, I have been a tree stand harness advocate. On the date of 8/19/23 every thing was normal until once senseless decision cost me almost everything. I didn’t put on my harness. As I was finishing up hanging the stand the last thing I remember was breaking off a couple of the last twigs coming off the tree and the stand collapsed and dumped me straight to my back. This resulted in a burst fracture of my t8 vertebrae, pinched spinal cord, broken ribs, broken sternum, collapsed lungs, and ultimately causing to me to be paralyzed from my chest down.

1 year and a couple hard weeks later I’m more prepared for deer season than I’ve ever been. This wheelchair will not define me nor stop me from doing the stuff that I used to enjoy doing.

My goal is to show other people that have been through this that there is life and opportunities after spinal cord injuries. I want to show how easy it is to rig up a safety line, put on a harness, and climb into a deer stand and sit comfortably.

Most of all I want to give back to my community. I want to do fundraisers, raise money, and take people in wheelchairs hunting who think they would never have the opportunity to go again. I want to show that there are grants, scholarships and all types of funding for us out there. I want to have studies done for sci. People see me in this wheelchair and feel bad for me when in reality, not walking is the easiest part of my paralysis. There are many things that happen behind closed doors that make daily living difficult. I want to save a life by reminding everyone that hunts to never forget to throw on that harness.

But in order to do these things, I need your help. I will have to build this from the ground up and need help with funding to get this company started. I know I am surrounded by an amazing community and it would mean so much to me if you took time out of your day to donate or simply share this post.
