Wendy Costello, a beloved member of our community, has recently relocated to North Carolina to be closer to her family as she bravely faces a terminal cancer diagnosis. Wendy’s journey has been incredibly challenging, especially following her recent paralysis caused by tumors on her spine.
This week, Wendy will be moving into a small cottage near her daughter, Kira, after being discharged from Duke. While her family is doing everything possible to support her, the transition to her new life as a paralyzed individual comes with significant financial strain. Insurance has fallen short in covering the essential items and modifications needed to provide Wendy with comfort and quality of life.
The funds raised will help Wendy and her family secure:
- A wheelchair suited to her needs
- Ramps and other accessibility modifications for her cottage
- Specialized furniture and equipment designed for individuals with paralysis
- Additional medical and daily care support to ensure she can live her final chapter in peace and dignity
