We can help Wendy and John Firestone who have lost their home of 30 years and all of their belongings in the Hawk Fire in Reno, Nevada, on August 22. For years, they have dedicated their lives to serving others and supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our community. Wendy works with Note-Able Music Therapy Services, and John serves as Executive Director of The Life Change Center, where both have made a lasting impact on countless lives. Today, they are facing an unimaginable loss of their own.
Wendy, John, and their beloved dog, Ruby, have been completely displaced and are currently in temporary shelter. With only one suitcase between them, they are beginning the overwhelming task of rebuilding after losing nearly everything they own. While insurance will provide assistance in time, it cannot address the immediate challenges and uncertainty they face right now. For those of you who know Wendy and John, you know that the last few years have been full of doctor's appointments, co-payments and large max-out-of-pocket sums as John recovered from his climbing accident and then Wendy received her cancer diagnosis. While they have both recovered, this devastating loss is adding another layer of hardship to an incredibly challenging chapter in their lives.
After spending so many years showing up for others with compassion, generosity, and hope, we can now give them care and support during this challenging time. Donations will help cover immediate needs such as temporary housing, clothing, personal essentials, and other unexpected expenses as Wendy and John navigate the insurance process and begin rebuilding their lives. If you are unable to give, please consider sharing this fundraiser with your friends, family, and networks. Every contribution and act of support will help remind them that they are not facing this journey alone. Thank you for helping Wendy and John take the first steps toward healing and rebuilding.
