Help Wedad Apply for Her Green Card
As a Community Liaison in Albany City Schools, Wedad has been a lifeline for many families navigating a new country. After nearly ten years of hard work and perseverance, she is finally eligible to apply for a green card, but the $3,000.00 fee is a major hurdle.
Nearly ten years ago, my friend Wedad came to the United States from Iran with her young son, hoping to build a safe and stable life. Since then, she has worked incredibly hard to make that dream a reality.
Wedad completed her education while raising her son and now works in the Albany City School District. She first served as a Teaching Assistant and now works as a Community Liaison, where she uses her Arabic language skills and compassionate nature to support students and families new to our community. She helps parents communicate with school, advocates for students, and provides guidance for families navigating a new country.
After years of perseverance, Wedad was granted asylum and is now eligible to apply for her green card - an important step toward citizenship and long-term stability for her and her son.
Unfortunately, the application fee of $3,000.00 is a significant financial burden. Wedad is a single mom with one income and has been struggling with some health issues, which have added stress to the situation. I'm hoping our community can come together to support someone who has given so much to others.
If her smile and positive attitude have brightened your life, help Wedad take this important step forward. Thank you for any contribution, large or small. It all makes a difference.
