Help Fund ArtPark Waukegan’s 2025 Season and Exciting New Projects!
We’re gearing up for another vibrant year at ArtPark in 2025, and we need your support to make it a success! This year, we’re excited to bring some amazing new additions to the park, including our biggest project yet: a brand new crochet mural that will feature a Ruby Throated Hummingbird and a Morning Glory Bloom. These two subjects were chosen for their deep connection to our community. The hummingbird is a symbol of hope and the morning glory, native to Illinois, which blooms all summer..
What We’re Raising Funds For:
New Crochet Mural:
This year’s crochet mural will be a stunning 24ft x 16ft masterpiece made of 890 granny squares (that’s 159 more than our current mural!). We’re budgeting $500 for this project, which will cover the cost of yarn, crochet tools for volunteers, and new installation hardware (we’ll reuse the old fencing, but we’ll be purchasing new clamps). The hummingbird and morning glory theme reflects both the native and migratory beauty of nature right here in our community. We’re asking for $100 less than we requested for our previous mural, even though this one will be larger and more intricate!
Park Maintenance & Upgrades:
Keeping ArtPark in top shape is an ongoing effort, and this year, we’ll be working on regular maintenance (fresh mulch, mowing, etc.), plus upgrading the park with new plants, art installations, and fixtures that will keep the space inviting and vibrant. We’re always looking for ways to improve and grow our park for everyone to enjoy.
Community Engagement & Events:
ArtPark is more than just a park—it’s a community hub. We’re planning a fantastic lineup of events this year, from live concerts and bonfire karaoke nights to workshops and outdoor movie nights. We’re thrilled to expand on our popular ArtWauk participation and continue offering a diverse range of events that bring together people of all ages and backgrounds. The support we’ve received over the years has been incredible, and we’re ready to take things to the next level!
Our Goal: We’re aiming to raise $2,000 to fund all of the exciting projects and events we have planned for 2025. This includes the crochet mural, park upkeep, entertainment costs, and more! Every dollar counts, and no donation is too small. If we reach our goal, we’ll announce upcoming crochet workshops, where YOU can get involved in bringing the new mural to life!
Why Your Support Matters:
ArtPark has been a grassroots effort to provide a creative and welcoming space for the Waukegan community since 1997. We’ve seen amazing growth over the years, and the support of our local artists, businesses, and volunteers is what makes it all possible. Whether you’ve attended an event, donated supplies, or simply visited the park, YOU are part of what makes ArtPark special.
This year, as we celebrate our 28th year in existence, we’re more committed than ever to making ArtPark a destination for creativity, fun, and community spirit. We’re proud to continue the legacy that Jim Harrington started, and we couldn’t do it without YOU.
Thank You, Waukegan & Lake County! We appreciate every donation, no matter how big or small. If you’re unable to contribute financially, we’d love to have you volunteer your time or donate materials. ArtPark is YOUR park, and together, we’re building something truly special for our community.
Let’s make the 2025 season at ArtPark unforgettable! Thank you for your support!
