Want to help a rural african community have reliable access to water in just 4 days? You can!
With just $1000, we will be able to repair and mechanize one of their four hand pumps! A mechanized borehole is a pump that pulls water up from the ground, stores it in a large tank, and allows people to access it from a spigot. Just one of these will serve 2,500 residents!
My friend lives in the Northern region of Ghana with the Dagomba tribe. Access to water is a major struggle in this community. Women in this tribe currently travel long distances to the dam and their hand pumps to collect water and carry water jugs back to the village. They currently have 4 hand pumps in this community, but these have all been spoiled due to overuse and age.
These pumps pull water from local dams, where water is shared with animals, other communities, and now new agricultural development that uses irrigation farming. Those dams will probably be depleted soon. If we can't repair and mechanize the boreholes, the women will have to go farther and farther for water.
Please help the Dagomba tribe get reliable access to water! Any little amount helps. We are trying to accomplish this in the next month.
