I am fundraising for Watch Duty because they are an outstanding nonprofit organization that is making communities across America safer from wildfire.
I have witnessed the immense value of Watch Duty first hand. When the Eaton fire hit my hometown of Altadena in January last year, my family, friends, and neighbors were filled with fear and uncertainty, struggling to understand what was happening around us as the firestorm advanced and rapidly overwhelmed our town.
In those terrible days, clear, accurate and timely information was everything and Watch Duty was an essential service.
Watch Duty helped us determine when to evacuate.
Watch Duty helped us understand which areas and homes were damaged and which were ok.
Once the National Guard enforced the hard closure, Watch Duty maps helped us see where the closure boundaries were.
And Watch Duty showed us where to find help from the many amazing nonprofits and community groups that stepped in to help.
Everyone deserves access to Watch Duty.
This campaign is dedicated to helping Watch Duty provide fast, real-time wildfire alerts when seconds matter. All funds raised go to WatchDuty.
The funds raised will support 24/7 incident monitoring, clearer updates, and essential tools that empower firefighters, first responders, and our communities during emergencies.
By expanding coverage to more at-risk areas, Watch Duty can ensure that alerts remain free and accessible for everyone.
By supporting Watch Duty, we can help people across the country act sooner and stay safer in the face of wildfires.
Thank you for your support! Even if you aren't able to donate, you can still make a really big difference by sharing this fundraiser with your friends and family. Thanks so much.
Note: all the photos in this fundraiser are mine and were taken in Altadena during the fire.
