The Walt L. Shamel Community Garden started as a pair of vacant lots on Dean Street in the mid-1980s and was transformed by neighbors into a thriving garden and community space. Now we need your help to ensure that the garden continues to flourish!

During COVID, our compost operation has struggled to keep pace with increased demand from the community. In addition, costs associated with our chicken flock, port a potty, and necessary maintenance of the garden have outstripped our membership dues. We hope that this Go Fund Me will ensure the continued operation of the garden and enable us to make investments such as improved seating and pathway repair.
