Help Build a Community Art Space for Sustainable Change!

The Waitabu Women’s Group is thrilled to announce a fundraising campaign to create a dedicated community art space!
For decades, the Waitabu Women’s Club has been a cornerstone of our community, providing a nurturing environment where women gather to share ideas and inspire change. While our meeting places have varied, the impact of our gatherings remains constant—offering vital creative outlets and fostering connection among the women of our community.
Establishing a dedicated art space will provide us with a consistent venue for our meetings and a welcoming environment for creative expression. It will also serve as a hub for local children who gather each night to paint and draw. Importantly, this space will support our initiatives in plastic waste management and upcycling by providing a designated area for collecting recyclable materials, helping keep our community clean and sustainable.
The women of Waitabu are leading the charge against the plastic waste crisis. Through innovative projects like making eco bricks, we transform household waste into eco-friendly building materials, all while promoting environmental sustainability and setting an example for other Pacific Island Nation communities. Our efforts have inspired local schoolchildren, who created 150 eco bricks in just three days to build a new flower bed on their campus!
In addition to this, our members explore various upcycling techniques, turning tins, bottles, and wrappers into beautiful earrings, woven items, and more—integrating these practices with traditional art forms.
With your support, we can turn our dream of a community art space into a reality. Together, we can empower women, inspire creativity, and make a positive impact on our environment. Thank you for your generosity!
