Hi, I’m Dan and I’m the founder of The EPIC Family CIC, a not-for-profit organisation based in the heart of the South West of England.

The EPIC Family CIC was founded to fill a gap in the south west to provide support to vulnerable children and young people. Our ethos is built upon an empathic approach where our team (of currently only volunteers!) supports anyone who is involved with looking after and/or supporting vulnerable children in an empathic and non-judgemental way.

A supporter of a vulnerable child could be a legal parent/guardian, a foster/kinship parent, a teacher, a social worker, a health professional, actually; anyone involved with children who could be classed as vulnerable.

It is important for us to raise funds to cover our next annual office costs. Our costs are relatively low at present however, when there are limited/no funds; any overheads are an extra pressure despite how low they may be.

Our office rent is due in November and last year was £3600 for the year which includes utilities (excludes broadband!). We’re expecting the year ahead to be a similar amount.

To help raise funds I have crazily decided to register to do this years Haytor Heller 10k course in September. Myself and The EPIC Family CIC would be eternally grateful if you could sponsor me to complete the event. I have done the course twice before and on both counts said I’d never do it again as it’s pretty brutal! I’d also appreciate anyone who could pop along and cheer me on! The event is on Saturday 6th September around Haytor.

Every penny counts to help us raise funds towards this years rent so that I can continue running support sessions for those who need me in the South West. I’m am currently not paid and have personally ploughed around £10k+ into the organisation for its launch a year ago, and I will be putting the last of my life savings into the organisation later this year to launch our in house independent fostering service which again is reliant on us having office premises.

You can find out more about us on our website www.epicfamilycic.co.uk

SEPTEMBER UPDATES:
Thank you so much to everyone who support my Haytor Heller run. We managed to raise £570 to go towards funding our office rent.

As of 12th Sept we are still awaiting Ofsted to approve our registration though we expect a conclusion shortly. In the meantime, I have now signed up for my very first half marathon in Weston along with another supporter of our cause. We will be running on the 19th October, and hope to continue raising some funds towards our target. We are several months behind our timeline and therefore it is essential we fundraise towards covering some of our overheads.

Your support on this journey is EPIC - so thank you!
